Community Outreach Program among the community in Ampangan, Negeri Sembilan
Zoonotic diseases continue to be a public health burden globally. One of the most important preventive measures includes good hygiene etiquette. Given these concerns, USIM One Health Student Club has recruited a team of volunteers to join a one-day community outreach programme in Ampangan, Negeri Sembilan on 17th November 2018. The team composed of members from multidiscipline including medical students, veterinary students and allied health students from various universities. The project mainly focuses on importance of the concept of "One Health" in creating awareness on the proper hygiene etiquette among children in Ampangan. It also focuses on coughing and sneezing etiquette. Firstly, a general examination is done on the kids to ensure the general personal hygiene of the kids is good like clean fingernails. Other than that, the project centers around a group of students teaching the children on germs and worms and hand hygiene through various activities such as hands on practice, games and coloring contest.
