Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) MoH in 2018, declared a new outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in health catchment area of Mangina, in North Kivu Province.
The current epidemic of EVD in DRC poses a high risk of introduction of virus into neighboring unaffected countries in region. EVD outbreak has been graded an internal WHO grade 3 acute public health emergency thus land borders adjoining countries with DRC have been advised by WHO to establish basic infection prevention and control measures to ensure that health care workers are trained appropriately and establish rapid response teams to investigate and manage any EVD cases and their contacts. Due to the proximity of DRC outbreak to the border with Rwanda, SOHIC-Rwanda has conducted awareness campaign on EVD among its community and neighboring communities across University of Rwanda respective campuses.
