Share the message, make us responsible: Rabies prevention in students of primary and secondary school

Friday 15 November 2019 - Friday 29 November 2019

Annual 59 000 rabies associated deaths occur worldwide, among the cases 40% accounts in children under 15 years of age. The reasons behind high number of children acquired rabies are the most to play with pets, do sudden movement and surprise dogs and don’t report cases of scratches or bites to parents.
This workshop is going to be carried in primary school where we find children under 15years, in Nyagatare district as one with recent rabies alert in 2010. SOHIC/RWANDA members are going to help in sharing message about prevention of rabies through one health approach by making students responsible for their health so as pay attention while playing with pets and report any case of bites to parents, community health workers or veterinary.
It will be in two parts: role play by students and public talk and after all evaluation of understanding as we did also pre-workshop evaluation.
