Campus Therapy Dog Social Media Event - A One Health Effort

Friday 01 November 2019

Coordinated by the Research Chair in One Health and Wellness at the University of Saskatchewan, the campus PAWS Your Stress Therapy Dog program will release a promotional video on social media. Grounded within and contributing to the latest empirical evidence, the program is in its 5th year of operation, and is offered in partnership with the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog program and Student Wellness. The PAWS Your Stress program promotes zooeyia, a One Health concept that recognizes the reciprocal benefit of companion animals in human lives. The human is accounted for as both the student visiting and the therapy dog handler, the animal is the therapy dog, and the environment is identified as the natural environment (biophilia hypothesis), the social environment (interactions between humans and dogs) and the built environment (inviting dogs into the university community). Widespread sharing via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter will be targeted.
