One Health Summer School in Brazil :And now?……Vectors, emerging diseases and antimicrobial resistance!!!!!
Objective: The objective of the workshop would be to train students from diverse disciplines to cooperatively analyze complex One Health problems and devise implementable solutions that address health issues in the context of sustainable economic benefits. In this summer school, we´ll address the emergence and re-emergence of infectious diseases, vectors impact and antimicrobial resistance as a consequence of human activities. It´s expected for the students to analyze the several factors and suggest possible solutions taking into account the viability and economic and cultural possibilities.
The workshop:
Participants: Graduate students (PhD or Masters, you could include undergraduates as well) from a range of disciplines (epidemiology, public health, engineering, sociology, anthropology, economics, computer science, basic sciences, law, journalism, public policy, political science, others, veterinary, medicine)
The format will be largely student-driven with experts in various fields facilitating the discussion rather than lecturing or providing information. Students and facilitators will be preselected into groups to ensure that each group is interdisciplinary and has a range of expertise.
