One Planet, One Health, One Future

Friday 25 October 2019

The German Federal Foreign Office in partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is organizing a one-day conference “One Planet, One Health, One Future” at the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.
Currently, human interference and impacts on the earth’s natural systems generate multiple threats to human, livestock and wildlife health. As the planet faces biodiversity and climate change crises, cross-sectional and trans-disciplinary action is imperative to systematically and holistically address health issues and policy. With the historic Manhattan Principles as a foundation, this conference will further incorporate climate change and other global health security challenges at the human-animal-environment interface to create a new set of principles as a call to action: The Berlin Principles.
The program will include discussions on global health threats, challenges, opportunities and solutions, with an emphasis on holistic health approaches, such as One Health and Planetary Health. It will cover a variety of relevant topics including, but not limited to, global health security, infectious disease and pandemic prepared, antimicrobial resistance, food security, climate change and health, biodiversity and health.

Moderator of the conference will be Sir Andrew Haines.
