Tuks One Health

Monday 30 November 2020

In February 2020, a video of Angolan friends dancing to a South African track entitled “Jerusalema” went viral with the hope that the video would uplift communities and spread positivity amongst fears of worldwide lockdowns and has become the soundtrack of the pandemic for millions worldwide. Medical and veterinary postgraduate students and staff working across multiple disciplines within the One Health initiative at the University of Pretoria will partake in the Jerusalema challenge to raise awareness for One Health research in South Africa, which defines the collaborative efforts of multiple disciplines to attain optimal health for people, animals, and our environment. Students and staff involved perform research ranging from ecological, veterinary, medical, and non-medical research across South Africa and will demonstrate the protective personnel equipment worn in their respective fields. The challenge hopes to raise awareness and uplift members of One Health research amid challenges to the COVID19 pandemic.
