Understanding the impacts of COVID-19 in our daily lives through the One Health lens

The activity engages primary and high school learners from grades 7 to 12 who come from various schools in Limpopo and Gauteng Provinces. The theme looks at learners understanding of the impacts of the COVID19 pandemic on their community and overall environment. Leaners are requested to write a short essay about a given character faced with a life challenge due to the impacts of the pandemic. The challenges span from health, social wellness, recreation, economics well, business. Through understanding these challenges and how they interconnect in the lives of their chosen character, learners get to attain an understanding of One Health. Essays are submitted to their teachers and the University of Pretoria for assessment. Learners with the best essays get to present their essay at the price giving event to the rest of their colleagues. Overall this activity promotes writing, reading and presenting in learners which are all necessary skills in their personal development.
