2ND ONE HEALTH DAY: EPIDEMIOLOGY OF EMERGING AND RE-EMERGING DISEASES

Wednesday 30 November 2022

In the last years many epidemiological events have emerged and re-emerged, during which new infectious diseases, their etiological agents and their pathophysiology have been identified, as well as other identified and monitored diseases that are now showing increasingly high incidences and are becoming major health problems. In these context zoonotic diseases have had a major impact on the physical and mental health of mankind which in turn has repercussions on the health and welfare of animals turning into a serious problem for One Health. During this pandemic for COVID-19, we have become aware of the impact of changes in the natural environments of wild species which has led in a sort of synathorpy where various pathogens have changed their ecology and evolved, looking for gaps in immune and health barriers, wreaking havoc on the epidemiology of diseases.
