Community Veterinary Outreach One Health clinic events
Community Veterinary Outreach (CVO) is the only veterinary-based organization in Canada that provides free health and social services to both companion animal pets and their humans. We include human health services in every CVO event. This model of care is called One Health. We serve communities in Ontario (Ottawa, Toronto, Simcoe, and York region), Winnipeg, Vancouver, Kelowna, and Saskatoon. CVO also has US charitable status and clinics in Kansas City, MO. Preventive veterinary care varies at each event, and includes exams, vaccination, deworming medication, microchip placement, dental care supplies and education, nutrition education, training and behavior consultation, and pro bono appointments for spay/ neuter. This is combined with health and social services for people, through partnership with human health service providers, including smoking harms reduction, vaccination (including influenza and COVID-19), primary health care needs, dental care access, and harm reduction including sexual health testing / education, and naloxone kit provision and training. We have an interdisciplinary approach to our clinic events. Together with our human health providers, we welcome students from all professions, including schools of veterinary medicine, dental hygiene, pharmacy, human medicine, occupational therapy, nursing, and veterinary technician programs. We have clinic events throughout the month of November in multiple regions.
