As part of the implementation of the Regulation International Health (RSI) and the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA), the Mali is committed, like the west Africa countries to put in place a strong national coordination mechanisms between animal, human and environmental, sectors in accordance with the “One Health” approach to better prevent, detect and respond as quickly as possible to health threats and improve human , animals, plants and the environment health contributing to sustainable development. It is within this framework that Decree No. 0369/PM-RM of April 12, 2018 establishing, attributions, organization and operation of the National “One Health” Platform of Mali, was signed. Also during the last thirty years, populations have been increasingly attentive to environmental and health issues. Health in all its components is today of great importance and is at the heart of many citizen concerns. However, the links between human health, animal health and environmental health remain less understood. Therefore, it is fundamental that information and awareness of the population about the approach “One Heath” gain more attention. It is in this context that a workshop was organized on the “One Heath” approach from December 7 to 8, 2023 at the General Directory of Territorial Communities, Bamako. The general objective is to contribute to the dissemination of the “One Heath” approach in the District of Bamako with a view to its appropriation by local elected officials and technical managers from the District of Bamako and the Communities of the District of Bamako. The local elected officials and technical managers of the Bamako District and surrounding municipalities acquired knowledge about the “One Health” approach during this training. They also have been aware of the different aspects of this approach. This knowledge acquired by them will enable them to better understand and integrate the “One Health” approach into their practices and decisions. Consequently, local elected officials will be able to implement policies and actions that promote public health, animal health and the environmental health of integrated manner, thus contributing to improving the overall health of the population in Mali. The workshop has been organized by the “One Health Mali Alliance” in collaboration with the GIE “Les Amis de la Nature ". The One Health Mali Alliance has developed an action plan (2024) for the implementation of workshop recommendations.
