One Health approach in service of excellence to Connect Air, Earth and Water in Amadou Mahtar MBOW University
As the international community, the world One Health day was celebrated on Friday, November 03, 2023. The official ceremony was presided over by the Coordinator of the Global One Health Security Multisectoral Program, Dr Adjaratou Diakhou NDIAYE. In 2017, Senegal set up the National Council for Global One Health Security, which is the state structure in charge of strengthening Health Security according to a One Health approach. Through the multisectoral Global (One) Health Security Program, we implement and coordinate a large number of activities based on a One Health approach, in collaboration with several sectors (human, animal, plant and environmental health, education, sanitation...) and actors including community players, private sector and civil society. This year, the theme adopted for this World One Health Day is: "Connecting Air, Earth and Water". It was a solemn opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of implementing the One Health approach, and above all to advocate the provision of sufficient resources to strengthen Health Security using a multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary approach, to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of interventions.
Under the aegis of the High National Security Council One Health (HCNSSM-OH), FAO, AFROHUN and Breakthrough Action, in collaboration with the various Students One Health Innovation Clubs of other Senegalese' Universities, all as One, they will help to set up a Student One Health Club during the UAM One Health Day celebration.
