Iberian wolf conservation status, conflicts, threats and opportunities in Portugal, in the context of One Health

Friday 03 November 2023

Wildlife, namely the iconic Iberian Wolf, conservation is essential in the One Health perspective. Likewise, One Health must not forget wildlife as spill-over of infectious agents is growing together with the urbanization of wildlife. On the other side, this urbanization is due to many anthropological alterations that have consequences to environmental, animal and human health. In this meeting we are going to discuss Iberian wolf conservation status, conflicts (with domestic animals and humans), threats and opportunities in Portugal, in the context of One Health. For this purpose we will bring together veterinarians, biologists, forest engineers and anthropologists, from academy, non-governmental organizations, private organizations and national nature conservation authorities, to achieve the multidisciplinary approach so needed in One Health.
